(31) (They are) dead, not alive; and they know not when they will be raised up.

(32) He has forbidden you only Al-Maitah (meat of a dead animal), blood, the flesh of swine, and any animal which is slaughtered as a sacrifice for others than Allah (or has been slaughtered for idols or on which Allah's Name has not been mentioned while slaughtering). But if one is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, and not transgressing, - then, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

(33) And man (the disbeliever) says: "When I am dead, shall I then be raised up alive?"

(34) And that cry of theirs ceased not, till We made them as a field that is reaped, extinct (dead).

(35) Or have they taken (for worship) alihah (gods) from the earth who raise the dead?

(36) That is because Allah: He is the Truth, and it is He Who gives life to the dead, and it is He Who is Able to do all things.

(37) So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry) overtook them in truth (with justice), and We made them as rubbish of dead plants. So away with the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, disobedient to His Messengers).

(38) They said: "When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we be resurrected indeed?

(39) Yet they have taken besides Him other alihah (gods) who created nothing but are themselves created, and possess neither harm nor benefit for themselves, and possess no power (of causing) death, nor (of giving) life, nor of raising the dead.

(40) That We may give life thereby to a dead land, and We give to drink thereof many of the cattle and men that We had created.
