(51) It was but one Saihah (shout) and lo! they (all) were still (silent, dead, destroyed).
(52) And a sign for them is the dead land. We give it life, and We bring forth from it grains, so that they eat thereof.
(53) That he or it (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم or the Qur'an) may give warning to him who is living (a healthy minded - the believer), and that Word (charge) may be justified against the disbelievers (dead, as they reject the warnings).
(54) "When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we (then) verily be resurrected?
(55) Then We destroyed the rest (the town of Sodom at the place of the dead Sea now in Palestine).
(56) [Iblis (Satan)] said: "My Lord! Give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are resurrected."
(57) They will say: "Our Lord! You have made us to die twice (i.e. we were dead in the loins of our fathers and dead after our life in this world), and You have given us life twice (i.e. life when we were born and life when we are Resurrected)! Now we confess our sins, then is there any way to get out (of the Fire)?" (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi,)
(58) And among His Signs (in this), that you see the earth barren; but when We send down water (rain) to it, it is stirred to life and growth (of vegetations). Verily, He Who gives it life, surely, is Able to give life to the dead (on the Day of Resurrection). Indeed He is Able to do all things.
(59) Or have they taken (for worship) Auliya' (guardians, supporters, helpers, protectors, lords, gods) besides Him? But Allah - He Alone is the Wali (Lord, God, Protector). And it is He Who gives life to the dead, and He is Able to do all things.
(60) And Who sends down water (rain) from the sky in due measure, then We revive a dead land therewith, and even so you will be brought forth (from the graves).
