(81) "No intercession can avail in His Presence, except for those for whom He has granted permission. So far (is this the case) that, when terror is removed from their hearts (at the Day of Judgment, then) will they say, 'what is it that your Lord commanded?' they will say, 'That which is true and just; and He is the Most High Most great'."

(82) The Word is proved true against the greater part of them: for they do not believe.

(83) "But he did lead astray a great multitude of you. Did ye not, then, understand?

(84) And We delivered him and his people from the great Calamity,

(85) And We delivered them and their people from (their) great Calamity;

(86) So Allah gave them a taste of humiliation in the present life, but greater is the punishment of the Hereafter, if they only knew!

(87) The Unbelievers will be addressed: "greater was the aversion of Allah to you than (is) your aversion to yourselves, seeing that ye were called to the Faith and ye used to refuse."

(88) (The answer will be:) "This is because, when Allah was invoked as the Only (object of worship), ye did reject Faith, but when partners were joined to Him, ye believed! the Command is with Allah, Most High, Most great!"

(89) Those who dispute about the signs of Allah without any authority bestowed on them,- there is nothing in their breasts but (the quest of) greatness, which they shall never attain to: seek refuge, then, in Allah: It is He Who hears and sees (all things).

(90) Assuredly the creation of the heavens and the earth is a greater (matter) than the creation of men: Yet most men understand not.
