(161) Have they not observed what is before them and what is behind them of the sky and the earth? If We will, We can make the earth swallow them, or cause obliteration from the sky to fall on them. Lo! herein surely is a portent for every slave who turneth (to Allah) repentant.

(162) And assuredly We gave David grace from Us, (saying): O ye hills and birds, echo his psalms of praise! And We made the iron supple unto him,

(163) Saying: Make thou long coats of mail and measure the links (thereof). And do ye right. Lo! I am Seer of what ye do.

(164) Say: Who giveth you provision from the sky and the earth? Say: Allah, Lo! we or you assuredly are rightly guided or in error manifest.

(165) (The people of the city) said: We augur ill of you. If ye desist not, we shall surely stone you, and grievous torture will befall you at our hands.

(166) Lo! thy Lord is surely One;

(167) And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell.

(168) But they denied him, so they surely will be haled forth (to the doom)

(169) Or are theirs the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Bestower?

(170) He said: Then, by Thy might, I surely will beguile them every one,
