(953) He said: "O my Lord! verily, I have called to my people night and day (i.e. secretly and openly to accept the doctrine of Islamic Monotheism),

(954) And verily, every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride.

(955) "Then verily, I called to them openly (aloud).

(956) "Then verily, I proclaimed to them in public, and I have appealed to them in private.

(957) "I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord, verily, He is Oft-Forgiving;

(958) Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "It has been revealed to me that a group (from three to ten in number) of jinn listened (to this Qur'an). They said: 'verily, we have heard a wonderful Recitation (this Qur'an)!

(959) 'And verily, we thought that men and jinn would not utter a lie against Allah.

(960) 'And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the males among the jinn, but they (jinn) increased them (mankind) in sin and transgression.
