(31) Lo! abraham was mild, imploring, penitent.

(33) Thus thy Lord will prefer thee and will teach thee the interpretation of events, and will perfect His grace upon thee and upon the family of Jacob as He perfected it upon thy forefathers, abraham and Isaac. Lo! thy Lord is Knower, Wise.

(34) And I have followed the religion of my fathers, abraham and Isaac and Jacob. It never was for us to attribute aught as partner to Allah. This is of the bounty of Allah unto us (the seed of abraham) and unto mankind; but most men give not thanks.

(35) And when abraham said: My Lord! Make safe this territory, and preserve me and my sons from serving idols.

(36) And tell them of abraham's guests,

(37) Lo! abraham was a nation obedient to Allah, by nature upright, and he was not of the idolaters;

(38) And afterward We inspired thee (Muhammad, saying): Follow the religion of abraham, as one by nature upright. He was not of the idolaters.

(39) And make mention (O Muhammad) in the Scripture of abraham. Lo! he was a saint, a prophet.

(40) He said: Rejectest thou my gods, O abraham? If thou cease not, I shall surely stone thee. Depart from me a long while!
