(1) O you who believe! do not go near prayer when you are Intoxicated until you know (well) what you say, nor when you are under an obligation to perform a bath-- unless (you are) travelling on the road-- until you have washed yourselves; and if you are sick, or on a journey, or one of you come from the privy or you have touched the women, and you cannot find water, betake yourselves to pure earth, then wipe your faces and your hands; surely Allah is Pardoning, Forgiving.

(2) And when there comes to them news of security or fear they spread it abroad; and if they had referred it to the Apostle and to those in authority among them, those among them who can search out the knowledge of it would have known it, and were it not for the grace of Allah upon you and His mercy, you would have certainly followed the Shaitan save a few

(3) And surely it is on a road that still abides.

(4) So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued.

(5) And He has cast great mountains in the earth lest it might be convulsed with you, and rivers and roads that you may go aright,

(6) And in your (own) creation and in what He spreads abroad of animals there are signs for a people that are sure;

(7) But when the prayer is ended, then disperse abroad in the land and seek of Allah's grace, and remember Allah much, that you may be successful.

(8) But he would not attempt the uphill road,

(9) And what will make you comprehend what the uphill road is?
