(91) Then, when they saw it as a dense cloud coming towards their valleys, they said: "This is a cloud bringing us rain!" nay, but it is that (torment) which you were asking to be hastened - a wind wherein is a painful torment!

(92) Then why did those whom they had taken for alihah (gods) besides Allah, as a way of approach (to Allah) not help them? nay, but they vanished completely from them (when there came the torment). And that was their lie, and their inventions which they had been inventing (before their destruction).

(93) Those of the bedouins who lagged behind will say to you: "Our possessions and our families occupied us, so ask forgiveness for us." They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say: "Who then has any power at all (to intervene) on your behalf with Allah, if He intends you hurt or intends you benefit? nay, but Allah is Ever All-Aware of what you do.

(94) "nay, but you thought that the Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and the believers would never return to their families, and that was made fair-seeming in your hearts, and you did think an evil thought and you became a useless people going for destruction."

(95) Those who lagged behind will say, when you set forth to take the spoils, "Allow us to follow you." They want to change Allah's Words. Say: "You shall not follow us; thus Allah has said beforehand." Then they will say: "nay, you envy us." nay, but they understand not except a little.

(96) They regard as favour to you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) that they have embraced Islam. Say: "Count not your Islam as a favour to me. nay, but Allah has conferred a favour upon you that He has guided you to the Faith if you indeed are true.

(97) nay, they wonder that there has come to them a warner (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) from among themselves. So the disbelievers say: "This is a strange thing!

(98) nay, but they have denied the truth (this Qur'an) when it has come to them, so they are in a confused state (cannot differentiate between right and wrong).

(99) Were We then tired with the first creation? nay, they are in confused doubt about a new creation (i.e. Resurrection).

(100) Have they (the people of the past) transmitted this saying to these (Quraish pagans)? nay, they are themselves a people transgressing beyond bounds (in disbelief)!
