(23) Seest thou not that to Allah bow down in worship all things that are in the heavens and on earth,- the sun, the moon, the stars; the hills, the trees, the animals; and a great number among mankind? But a great number are (also) such as are fit for Punishment: and such as Allah shall disgrace,- None can raise to honour: for Allah carries out all that He wills.

(24) He will say: "What number of years did ye stay on earth?"

(25) That with it We may give life to a dead land, and slake the thirst of things We have created,- cattle and men in great numbers.

(26) Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength: they tilled the soil and populated it in greater numbers than these have done: there came to them their messengers with Clear (Signs). (Which they rejected, to their own destruction): It was not Allah Who wronged them, but they wronged their own souls.

(27) And We gave him (back) his people, and doubled their number,- as a Grace from Ourselves, and a thing for commemoration, for all who have Understanding.

(28) And they will say: "What has happened to us that we see not men whom we used to number among the bad ones?

(29) A number of people from those of old,

(30) A (goodly) number from those of old,
