(34) And he went into the city at a time of unvigilance on the part of its people, so he found therein two men fighting, one being of his party and the other of his foes, and he who was of his party cried out to him for help against him who was of his enemies, so Musa struck him with his fist and killed him. He said: This is on account of the Shaitan's doing; surely he is an enemy, openly leading astray.

(35) And when he came to the water of Madyan, he found on it a group of men watering, and he found besides them two women keeping back (their flocks). He said: What is the matter with you? They said: We cannot water until the shepherds take away (their sheep) from the water, and our father is a very old man.

(36) Though they were before this, before it was sent down upon them, confounded in sure despair.

(37) And when it is said to them: Follow what Allah has revealed, they say: Nay, we follow that on which we found our fathers. What! though the Shaitan calls them to the chastisement of the burning fire!

(38) Cursed: wherever they are found they shall be seized and murdered, a (horrible) murdering.

(39) And certainly the Shaitan found true his conjecture concerning them, so they follow him, except a party of the believers.

(40) Surely they found their fathers going astray,
