(392) We destroyed aforetime populations round about you; and We have shown the signs in various ways, that they may turn (to Us).

(393) Allah has promised you many gains that ye shall acquire, and He has given you these beforehand; and He has restrained the hands of men from you; that it may be a sign for the Believers, and that He may guide you to a Straight Path;

(394) On the earth are signs for those of assured Faith,

(395) And We left there a sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty.

(396) And in Moses (was another sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest.

(397) And in the 'Ad (people) (was another sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind:

(398) And in the Thamud (was another sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!"

(399) For truly did he see, of the signs of his Lord, the Greatest!

(400) But if they see a sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic."
