(11) Certainly Allah helped you in many battlefields and on the day of Hunain, when your great numbers made you vain, but they availed you nothing and the earth became strait to you notwithstanding its spaciousness, then you turned back retreating.

(12) Like those before you; they were stronger than you in power and more abundant in wealth and children, so they enjoyed their portion; thus have you enjoyed your portion as those before you enjoyed their portion; and you entered into vain discourses like the vain discourses in which entered those before you. These are they whose works are null in this world and the hereafter, and these are they who are the losers.

(13) These are they for whom there is nothing but fire in the hereafter, and what they wrought in it shall go for nothing, and vain is what they do.

(14) They shall not hear therein any vain discourse, but only: Peace, and they shall have their sustenance therein morning and evening.

(15) And who keep aloof from what is vain,

(16) What! did you then think that We had created you in vain and that you shall not be returned to Us?

(17) And they who do not bear witness to what is false, and when they pass by what is vain, they pass by nobly.

(18) Do you build on every height a monument? vain is it that you do:

(19) And We did not create the heaven and the earth and what is between them in vain; that is the opinion of those who disbelieve then woe to those who disbelieve on account of the fire.

(20) Those who sport entering into vain discourses.
