(43) Now when ye meet in battle those who disbelieve, then it is smiting of the necks until, when ye have routed them, then making fast of bonds; and afterward either grace or ransom till the war lay down its burdens. That (is the ordinance). And if Allah willed He could have punished them (without you) but (thus it is ordained) that He may try some of you by means of others. And those who are slain in the way of Allah, He rendereth not their actions vain.

(44) (It is) a bounty and a grace from Allah; and Allah is Knower, Wise.

(45) Therefor warn (men, O Muhammad). By the grace of Allah thou art neither soothsayer nor madman.

(46) As grace from Us. Thus We reward him who giveth thanks.

(47) And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)?

(48) What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace)

(49) Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace).
