(51) And when it was said: "Verily, Allah's Promise is the truth, and there is no doubt about the coming of the hour," you said: "We know not what is the hour: we do not think it but as a conjecture, and we have no firm convincing belief (therein)."

(52) Therefore be patient (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) as did the Messengers of strong will and be in no haste about them (disbelievers). On the Day when they will see that (torment) with which they are promised (i.e. threatened, it will be) as if they had not stayed more than an hour in a single day. (O mankind! this Qur'an is sufficient as) a clear Message (or proclamation to save yourself from destruction). But shall any be destroyed except the people who are Al-Fasiqun (the rebellious against Allah's Command, the disobedient to Allah)?

(53) Do they then await (anything) other than the hour, that it should come upon them suddenly? But some of its portents (indications and signs) have already come; and when it (actually) is on them, how can they benefit then by their reminder?

(54) And in the hours before dawn, they were (found) asking (Allah) for forgiveness.

(55) The hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon).

(56) Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lut (Lot), them We saved in the last hour of the night,

(57) Nay, but the hour is their appointed time (for their full recompense), and the hour will be more grievous and more bitter.

(58) He merges night into day (i.e. the decrease in the hours of the night is added into the hours of the day), and merges day into night (i.e. the decrease in the hours of the day is added into the hours of the night), and He has full knowledge of whatsoever is in the breasts.

(59) Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah (the striking hour of Judgement)!

(60) They ask you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) about the hour - when will be its appointed time?
