(31) Ibrahim (Abraham) said: "But there is lut (Lot) in it." They said: "We know better who is there. We will verily save him [lut (Lot)] and his family except his wife: she will be of those who remain behind (i.e. she will be destroyed along with those who will be destroyed from her folk)."
(32) And when Our Messengers came to lut (Lot), he was grieved because of them, and felt straitened on their account. They said: "Have no fear, and do not grieve! Truly, we shall save you and your family, except your wife: she will be of those who remain behind (i.e. she will be destroyed along with those who will be destroyed from her folk).
(33) So We punished each (of them) for his sins; of them were some on whom We sent Hasib (a violent wind with shower of stones) [as on the people of lut (Lot)], and of them were some who were overtaken by As-Saihah [torment - awful cry. (as Thamud or Shu'aib's people)], and of them were some whom We caused the earth to swallow [as Qarun (Korah)], and of them were some whom We drowned [as the people of Nuh (Noah), or Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his people]. It was not Allah Who wronged them, but they wronged themselves.
(34) Allah sends His Salat (Graces, Honours, Blessings, Mercy) on the Prophet (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), and also His angels (ask Allah to bless and forgive him). O you who believe! Send your Salat on (ask Allah to bless) him (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), and (you should) greet (salute) him with the Islamic way of greeting (salutation i.e. As-Salamu 'Alaikum ).
(35) And verily, lut (Lot) was one of the Messengers.
(36) And Thamud, and the people of lut (Lot), and the Dwellers of the Wood: such were the Confederates.
(37) And 'Ad, and Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and the brethren of lut (Lot);
(38) "Who feared the Most Gracious (Allah) in the Ghaib (Unseen) and brought a heart turned in repentance (to Him and absolutely free from each and every kind of polytheism).
(39) But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [of lut (Lot) and his two daughters].
(40) And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet lut (Lot) was sent].
