(46) And they became divided only after Knowledge reached them,- through selfish envy as between themselves. Had it not been for a Word that went forth before from thy Lord, (tending) to a Term appointed, the matter would have been settled between them: But truly those who have inherited the Book after them are in suspicious (disquieting) doubt concerning it.

(47) Verily the Day of sorting out is the time appointed for all of them,-

(48) We created not the heavens and the earth and all between them but for just ends, and for a Term appointed: But those who reject Faith turn away from that whereof they are warned.

(49) Behold, two (guardian angels) appointed to learn (his doings) learn (and noted them), one sitting on the right and one on the left.

(50) They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time.
