(33) Allah was well pleased with the believers when they swore allegiance unto thee beneath the tree, and He knew what was in their hearts, and He sent down peace of reassurance on them, and hath rewarded them with a near victory;

(34) And lo! that verily is a tremendous oath, if ye but knew -

(35) Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning.

(36) And knew not what my reckoning!

(37) That He may forgive you somewhat of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Lo! the term of Allah, when it cometh, cannot be delayed, if ye but knew.

(38) Teacheth man that which he knew not.

(39) Nay, would that ye knew (now) with a sure knowledge!
