(761) Verily, We have warned you of a near torment - the Day when man will see that (the deeds) which his hands have sent forth, and the disbeliever will say: "Woe to me! Would that I were dust!"

(762) They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life?

(763) They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!"

(764) And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)?"

(765) saying: "I am your lord, most high."

(766) You have no knowledge to say anything about it.

(767) When Our Verses (of the Qur'an) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!"

(768) As for man, when his Lord tries him by giving him honour and bounties, then he says (in exultation): "My Lord has honoured me."

(769) But when He tries him by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me!"

(770) He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!"
